Ongoing since August of this year, the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPMI) of the INSS <\/a>The objective is to investigate one of the largest fraud schemes ever recorded against retirees and pensioners in the country, uncovered in April of this year, based on an operation by the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) and the Federal Police (PF). Investigations revealed that, between 2019 and 2024, shell companies made improper deductions from social security benefits, diverting more than R$1,146.3 billion from pensioners and retirees.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commission, composed of members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, seeks to identify those responsible, trace the path that allowed the fraud, and propose measures to strengthen control and prevention mechanisms, avoiding similar cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vice-president of the CPMI and leader of RenovaBR, Congressman Duarte Jr. (PSB-MA) has been actively involved in conducting this investigation. For him, the commission's main strength lies in bringing visibility to what previously remained in the shadows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe arrests of the two main members of this criminal organization only happened a month after the visibility that the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) gave to the case. This is the commission's main strength: to shed light on the facts, to promote more transparency,\u201d the parliamentarian stated during the meeting for the formation of new political leaders, in Rio de Janeiro, held by RenovaBR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigations carried out by the commission, which has already exceeded 150 hours of work, are organized into six areas, ranging from mapping the fraud and identifying those involved to analyzing the institutional failures that allowed the irregularities. Duarte highlights that one of the most serious issues is in the system of payroll loans, where retirees and beneficiaries had contracts signed without their consent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The INSS deficit has reached over R$14.6 billion, and in the case of payroll loans, the problem is much bigger. We need to establish regulations that protect consumers and prevent this from continuing to happen," he argued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the investigations, the parliamentarian emphasizes that the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPMI) also represents an opportunity to improve the oversight role of the Legislative branch. \u201cThe biggest difficulty we face is the polarized political environment, but the INSS scandal isn't a problem of one government or another; it's a problem for the whole country. We need to move beyond ideologies and focus on what really matters: taking care of people, investigating, and punishing those responsible,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the legislator emphasizes that cases like the INSS Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry highlight the importance of public leaders who are prepared and committed to the responsible use of public resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
