How long have you been part of the RenovaBR team and how would you describe your role? <\/strong>I've been with RenovaBR since 2021 and began my career as a student mentor when I was just 19 years old. I've always dreamed of making a difference by uniting education and politics, and the organization gave me the opportunity to mentor people from all over the country who are willing and driven to renew politics in their states. <\/p>\n\n\n\n After participating in an election cycle in 2023, I took on a new position, managing the monitoring team. In total, I worked with over 1,300 students during my monitoring period, divided into three monitoring teams. It was a challenge to have diverse people from all regions, and monitoring is an important link in keeping people engaged in the mission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Currently, since 2024, I've been responsible for the Strategic Relationship area, where I'm tasked with supporting our nearly 400 representatives across Brazil, from city councilors to state representatives and mayors. And it's gratifying to see RenovaBR continue its support post-term, as the challenges of renewal continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There is also a hunting function, which involves monitoring competitive individuals who already hold public positions, aiming to combine the school's competitiveness and relevance in a lasting way through people who are already in leadership positions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What motivated you to enter the field of institutional relationships?<\/strong> <\/strong>I entered this field during my training, when I was a teaching assistant, and I began to understand, along with our students, that the challenges of good politics are perpetuated in everyday life, in the classroom. These challenges arise especially when people are in this environment of renewal and want to do things differently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What motivated me was understanding that I could be a part of the institution, working with students in this postgraduate program. It's an area where I can see things coming to fruition. People who dreamed one day during their initial training of making a difference and building something, transforming society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A remarkable lesson you have learned from your professional career?<\/strong> <\/strong>In 2021, during an in-person event, I began to understand the power of networks and how engaged and connected people can boost their self-esteem through belonging and, in fact, make a difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One of our students was going through a personal health issue. And within a large class, the size of Brazil, a doctor, also a student of ours, approached this student during a group activity. Perhaps, without this encounter, they would never have made this connection. It was through this interaction during our class that it was possible to perform surgery and continue the care of this student, who connected with a colleague. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Exercising public life involves caring for others. Once you make yourself available and win the election, your life will be guided by the well-being of others. And building networks and connections is essential, something RenovaBR does both virtually and in person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Why is it important to maintain ties with students after the election?<\/strong> <\/strong>We're approaching eight years of RenovaBR, and over time, with the idea of political renewal and bringing new faces into the political arena through education, we've identified challenges people face once they enter this environment. Renewal in politics isn't just about new faces, but primarily about good practices, and these changes don't just happen during election periods, but also in the political arena and with a pen in hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Students come in with a new perspective, willing to do things differently, but sometimes they feel alone. As an institution, we continue to provide knowledge, support, and be a network that helps them stay motivated. It's important to continue seeing each student as an individual, and what happens today is that the public doesn't see this in politics. When we support them, we are fulfilling our purpose as an institution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I highlight here cases such as Camila Jara (Workers' Party-MG), Paula Titan (MedB-PA), and Michelle Melo (PDT-AC), councilwomen in their respective cities and who are now serving as federal representatives in Camila's case and state representatives in Paula and Michelle's. In addition to these examples, we have Lohana Fran\u00e7a, currently a state representative for Minas Gerais and who was the most voted councilwoman in the history of Divin\u00f3polis (MG). <\/p>\n\n\n\n So, may these leaps continue to happen, may they continue to occupy more and more space, may RenovaBR always be this place of network support to be able to drive them forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How does relationship building contribute to the quality of mandates? <\/strong>We understand the need for inward reflection and the importance of students having someone to contact, and RenovaBR has this connection with all its representatives. The Relationship department brings these concerns to the internal level, translating them into ongoing training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Furthermore, we establish this connection between elected representatives, who may be experiencing the same problem and can share successful practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n How do you see RenovaBR evolving in supporting elected officials?<\/strong> <\/strong>We began working more regularly with these representatives in 2023, and we've been more present since then. What we can expect for this two-year period is an increasingly participatory RenovaBR, whether through technical support, mentoring, or connecting strategic individuals and partners who can help our students with specific projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the next semester, we'll also be supporting people in person, with technical visits and strategic moments.
