On Friday (23), the parliamentarians and RenovaBR leaders, Gisela Simona, federal deputy for Mato Grosso, and Marina Helou, state deputy for S\u00e3o Paulo, participated in panels at the III Congress of Public Advocacy in the Legislative Branch, held at the S\u00e3o Paulo City Council. The event brought together experts and authorities to discuss the challenges and advances of public advocacy in the legislative scenario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together with the Attorneys of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mato Grosso, Fernanda Amorim and Francielle Brustolin, Gisela Simona shared her experiences in the world of law and how female participation is crucial for the proper functioning of the Legislative branch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The congresswoman says that she has always seen education as an asset for change and found in law a path to fulfill her desire to change the world. \u201cThere were few women and black people in the legal profession, so practicing the profession was an achievement,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was through law that Gisela had the opportunity to hold a position as a director at Procon (Consumer Protection and Defense Program) in Mato Grosso, shortly before entering politics. She says that she was dismissed from her position when she came across a case of overpricing on public transportation. \u201cAt the time, I said that politics was not for me, but I still wanted to change the world and I understood that I needed the pen to make the necessary changes,\u201d says Gisela. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is one of the 181 women currently serving in the Chamber of Deputies \u2013 91 of the 513 federal deputies. According to her, although she is part of a minority in terms of numbers, monitoring studies, such as the National Observatory of Women in Politics, show that proportionally, female deputies present a greater number of legislative proposals than male deputies. \u201cWe seek recognition and the fight, today, is for a minimum space of representation in the electoral lists, which is under threat in parliament\u201d, she adds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
