RenovaBR is the largest political training school in Brazil

We are a multi-partisan, non-profit school that trains political and public leaders for a fairer and less unequal Brazil, and for a more participatory and informed democracy. Since 2017, , our work has involved selecting, encouraging and preparing leaders capable of transforming our reality. 

In our courses, we teach everything that good leaders need to know for this mission: qualified knowledge about the reality of our country, based on data and evidence, transparency, plurality, representation and respect for democratic values.

We promote and encourage leadership actions with clarity, honesty, accountability and commitment to transparency in an accessible manner, strengthening trust with society and fostering a more participatory and informed democracy.

LEARNING

We emphasize continuous learning, based on data and evidence, to empower political leaders, as we believe that sharing knowledge is essential to improving and strengthening democracy.

PLURALITY

We celebrate plurality, regardless of origins as long as these are democratic positions, and promote an inclusive environment that values different political perspectives. We recognize that the diversity of ideas enriches the debate and strengthens our mission to shape leaders committed to the common good.

We advocate for representation and diversity, striving for inclusion in spaces of power by promoting diverse individuals who truly represent their communities to serve a genuinely inclusive and participatory politics.

Meet the RenovaBR leaders

Since our first class, in 2018, we have trained more than 2,000 political leaders across Brazil, of all origins and political-ideological stances. In the 2018 general elections, 17 leaders were elected to positions in the Congress and State Legislatures. In the 2020 municipal elections, more than 150 were elected to City Hall and City Councils. In 2022, 18 leaders became part of the Legislative Assemblies and the Chamber of Deputies.

Discover our trajectory and the main moments in our history

2017

RenovaBR was founded on October 8th. The first selection process opened with a focus on training people interested in running for the State Legislatures and the National Congress.

2018

In January, RenovaBR’s first course began for the 130 selected leaders with online and in-person classes. 17 leaders were elected, by 7 parties in 8 states.

2019

Creation of the "RenovaBR Cidades" program, aimed at people interested in running for City Councils or City Halls, in the 2020 elections. 1,400 people were selected, and 1,140 leaders graduated in December.

2020

In the municipal elections, 156 "RenovaBR Cidades" program leaders were elected: 13 mayors, 2 deputy mayor and 141 city councilors.

2021

Launch of the selection process for "Jornada Renova" program, with more than 12 thousand applicants. Implementing of the first Continuous Training, in partnership with Insper, at the RenovaBR Training Center.

2022

Installation of the Knowledge Ramp on the Ministries Esplanade of Brazil, to celebrate the graduation of another 194 leaders. 18 of these were elected to Congress and State Legislatures. Launch of the Alumni Platform, a collaborative and inclusive environment created exclusively for RenovaBR leaders.

2023

Opening of the "Eleições 2024" program selection process, aimed at those who wished to run for City Councils or City Halls. Partnership with VelezReyes+ to create CostaRica+, an incubator for political leaders in Costa Rica.

From Brazil
to the world

RenovaBR was approached by Civil society organizations from the countries highlighted bellow and made itself available to dialogue and share the challenges and lessons learned from our history. In 2022, our school was highlighted as a reference in non-partisan political training, among 28 international institutions listed by the Apolitical Foundation.

COSTA RICA

Based on the partnership with VelezReyes+, RenovaBR offered technical support to the CostaRica+ Incubator. The initiative, founded in April 2023, qualifies candidates from different parties and political ideologies on issues such as ethics, public leadership, communication and public policies. DENMARK

RenovaBR participates in the Danida Fellowship course on sustainability and strengthening dialogue in politics at the invitation of the Danish Embassy.

RenovaBR is present at Brasa EuroLeads 2021, a conference for Brazilians in Europe, held in Paris.

Joe Biden's campaign team offers in-house and exclusive training to the RenovaBR team and school partners.
