Eudes Araújo, reelected mayor of Novo Planalto (GO), is an example of how politics can be transformative when guided by solid principles and commitment to the community. A business administrator, he brings to public office the vision of a manager, something he considers essential to face the challenges of the municipality.
“What motivated me to enter politics was the word indignation,” says Eudes. “Seeing the city where I grew up, which I love and where my family lives, stuck in time, while others evolved, was what led me to want to change the reality of the place that is part of my history,” he says.
Education and health as a priority
Although Novo Planalto is a small municipality, Eudes emphasizes that management cannot be limited to a single cause. “I am passionate about education, and I believe it is the key to changing the world. But in a municipality like ours, each area is crucial: health, infrastructure, basic sanitation and social action. All of them must be treated with the same seriousness,” he emphasizes.
Eudes celebrates the advances in education as one of his greatest achievements. “The progress of our children is visible. I am proud to say that my daughter studies in a public municipal school, and this makes no difference to someone who is in a private school. Quality is what matters.”
One of the biggest challenges is the lack of daycare centers in the city, a reality that the mayor promises to change. “Not having a daycare center seems comical, but it is a serious problem. Many mothers want to work, but have no one to leave their children with. Our goal is to open the city’s first daycare center in the first 100 days of the term, giving families more autonomy.”
Financial management as an example of seriousness
Among the most notable achievements of his first term, Eudes highlights the payment of more than R$1.4 billion in inherited debts. “It was a chronic, almost folkloric problem that many considered impossible to solve. With serious management based on values, we have shown that it is possible to reverse past problems. These resources could have been invested in health, education or infrastructure, but today we are proud to be up to date with our accounts.”
Projects for an even stronger New Plateau
Over the next four years, Eudes intends to intensify advances in education, infrastructure and quality of life for residents. Among the goals are the delivery of a full-time school, another personal dream, and the construction of a building for the city hall.
“The municipality is over 30 years old and still uses the old school as the headquarters of the Executive Branch. Our goal is to return this building to education, further expanding the services and quality of education. We want a more structured Novo Planalto, with excellent services for everyone.”
RenovaBR as a source of inspiration and strength
Eudes credits part of his political trajectory to RenovaBR, which he considers a turning point. “If it weren’t for RenovaBR in 2020, I wouldn’t have continued with the project of running for election. In moments of discouragement, it was school that gave me hope. My tutor, Carla Falcão, was essential. She reminded me that being in politics was about making a difference in people’s lives.”
This motivation was essential to overcome challenges and achieve reelection with a historic victory. “We have never had a result like this in Novo Planalto. It was recognition of the work done and the transformation we are promoting in the municipality.”
For him, politics is an opportunity to transform indignation into action and dreams into reality. “I want Novo Planalto to continue moving forward, for our population to feel happier and proud to live here. These next few years will be dedicated to delivering an even better city for everyone,” he concludes.
