On October 6th (1st round) and October 27th (2nd round), more than 153 million Brazilians must go to the polls to elect the councilors and mayors who will govern the country's 5,569 municipalities for the next four years. 

One detail that causes confusion among many voters is the requirement to present a voter registration card. In fact, the most important thing is to have an official document with a photo in hand in order to vote.

Upon arriving at the polling station, voters must prove their identity with one of the documents accepted by the Electoral Court. See the complete list below:

• Identity card (RG) or social identity, valid for trans and transvestite people who use their social name;
  
• Passport;
  
• Reservist certificate, for men who performed military service;
  
• Physical work card or professional class card recognized by law;
  
• National Driver's License (CNH);
  
• e-Título (digital application of the Electoral Court, available only to those who have already registered their fingerprints and have a photo on the document).

It is worth remembering that all these documents are accepted even if they are expired, as long as they are in good condition and the information is visible so that the voter's identity can be confirmed.

What documents are not accepted?

On the other hand, birth or marriage certificates cannot be used to vote, since they do not have a photo. In addition, the digital work card is also not accepted as a valid document for identification on election day, as stipulated by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in Resolution No. 23,736/2024.

Make sure that one of the accepted documents is on hand and in good condition on voting day. This way, you will be able to exercise your right to vote with peace of mind and contribute to the election of the country's future municipal leaders.
