In a joint effort to combat electoral harassment in the workplace, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) have established a campaign to alert workers about the illegal practice of pressure or coercion with the intention of influencing their vote. This action aims to protect the fundamental right to a free and secret vote, one of the pillars of democracy.

What is electoral harassment?

Electoral harassment in the workplace is the attempt to influence employees' votes, whether through threats, embarrassment or promises of benefits. This type of pressure can be exerted directly by employers or by colleagues in higher hierarchical positions, placing the employee in a vulnerable situation. According to Brazilian law, any attempt at manipulation or coercion with the intention of influencing a vote is considered a crime and can generate legal consequences.

How to report

The campaign encourages workers to report any practice of electoral harassment. The TSE and the MPT reinforce that the reporting channels are accessible and guarantee the confidentiality of those involved.

Complaints can be made directly on the website of the Public Ministry of Labor, which has a page dedicated to the topic. In addition, the official 2024 Elections portal also offers information on how to proceed in these cases.

Preventive and educational actions

The partnership between the TSE and the MPT seeks not only to suppress electoral harassment practices, but also to promote educational actions for employers and employees, with the aim of preventing the occurrence of this type of crime.

The campaign reinforces that everyone has the right to freely choose their political representatives, without external pressure or interference in the workplace. Democracy is only strengthened when citizens can express their will without interference!
