RenovaBR promoted a virtual conversation with councilors from various regions to share ideas and good practices on the creation and strengthening of Women's Attorneys' Offices. 

The meeting, entitled “Conversation with RBR Councilors: Women’s Attorney’s Office in the Chamber”, brought together leaders committed to expanding the role of municipal legislatures in defending women’s rights.

Experiences in Limeira: the example of Mariana Calsa

Councilwoman Mariana Calsa, reelected in Limeira (SP) for a second term, was one of the highlights of the event. In her report, she presented the initiatives adopted by the local Special Prosecutor's Office for Women, whose work includes the preparation of awareness-raising booklets, holding debate forums and actions in schools.  

“Without resources, we cannot provide training or produce informational materials. It is essential that the Chambers allocate specific funds for this work,” stated Mariana, reinforcing the need for budgetary provision so that the projects can get off the ground.

Partnerships and resources: paths to effective action

Participants highlighted the importance of partnerships with agencies such as the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) and the Federal Senate, which can provide institutional support and materials for distribution. According to Mariana Calsa, the relationship with these agencies was crucial to give visibility to cases of political gender-based violence in Limeira, and served as an example of how Public Prosecutors' Offices can gain strength when they have intermunicipal, state and federal support.

Furthermore, the event highlighted the importance of direct actions with the community, such as lectures in schools and awareness campaigns in neighborhoods. “When we reach a wider and more diverse audience, we can show that the Women’s Attorney’s Office serves everyone, not just women, but the entire society that wants to combat violence and gender inequality,” said one of the councilors present.
